Fred Kerley
I see that you have a couple of photos of Fred (Frederick John Charles) Kerley (born Winfrith Newburgh 1864, died 1931) blacksmith of Cliff Road, but from the rear. The attached may be of interest to you, taken circa 1930.
With him is his son Fred (Frederick T S) Kerley (born 1905). His son by his second wife, Elizabeth Julia Simmonds. You have their family on your site and in local history books. There is, however no mention of his first wife, Ruth Simmonds (in church graveyard) younger sister of Elizabeth, who died in 1901 of malnutrition!.
Ruth’s daughter Ruth Blanche (born 1885) appears in 1911 census as KIRLEY living as domestic servant in Bournemouth then appears 3 years later working in the mills of Huddersfield. She married in 1914, had my mother in 1915, lost husband in WW1 in 1917, remarried in 1917 and lost him in 1920. My mother still - yes still with us - recalls frequent visits with her mother and brother to stay in Burton Bradstock lastly about 1937.
